Website privacy & cookies

This notice covers only this National Public Confidence in Policing Survey information website.

Who is responsible

This information website is operated for the purpose of the National Public Confidence in Policing Survey. The website and the content are managed by VISAV Limited. The survey is delivered through Neighbourhood Alert by VISAV Limited on behalf of the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs’ Council. Neither the College of Policing nor the National Police Chiefs’ Council accepts any liability for the content of this website.

What we collect

We measure interest in this site and progression to the survey using first-party, privacy-limited server-side events. We record only: an event type (page view or survey button click), an allow-listed source tag (such as QR code), a broad device class (mobile, tablet or desktop), the referrer domain (not the full URL), the date and time, and the page path. We do not store names, email addresses, postal addresses, member IDs, survey identifiers, full IP addresses, full user-agent strings, complete query strings, advertising identifiers, survey responses, or any data that personally identifies you.

Purpose & lawful basis

The purpose of this measurement is to understand how many people view the information site and how many choose to proceed to the survey, so the survey team can evaluate and improve reach. The lawful basis is legitimate interests, balanced so that no personal data is collected and no individual can be identified.

Suppliers & processing

This website is built and hosted on the Base44 platform, which processes the limited event data described above. The survey is hosted on Neighbourhood Alert and operated by VISAV Limited in the UK. No third-party advertising, social media, or tracking pixels are loaded on this website.

Cookies & similar storage

This website uses only strictly necessary storage and does not set optional analytics cookies. No non-essential cookies or device storage are used, so no consent banner is required. If this changes, optional analytics will not be set before consent, and equally clear accept and reject controls will be provided.

Retention

For data collected on this website, as outlined in ‘What we collect’, the data is retained for 12 months, after which records are deleted or retained only as aggregated totals.

Your rights

Because this website does not collect personal data that identifies you, most data protection rights do not apply to these events. If you believe personal data has been processed and wish to raise a concern, you can contact VISAV by emailing support@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk or the Information Commissioner’s Office.

What happens when I click the ‘Start the Survey’ button?

When you select “Start the Survey”, you move to the secure Neighbourhood Alert platform, which has different data processing policies. During registration to become a member of the secure communication platform, the required privacy notice and member terms are presented. There is also a separate survey privacy notice.
